Kites!

The Stone Quarry Hill Art Park is taking a new direction: UP!
The Art Park’s kite activities and programs began 2008 with an art kite workshop in March and will lead to the “Art in the Sky” Kite Festival this June 21 & 22. The success of the March workshop, which attracted not only local people, but kiters from as far away as New England and Canada, has given new momentum to the Art Park’s exploration of kinetic art and its relationship to the area’s unmatched natural beauty, encompassing not only its stunning vistas, but the sky that surrounds them as well.
The celebration of sky and wind art continued with an Earth Day Fun Fly April 20, held for the first time on Quarry Hill just North of the Art Park entrance. This new, more “wind friendly” Art Park kite flying venue will also be the location of the Thirteenth Annual “Art In The Sky” Kite Festival, which has been expanded this year to two days: June 21–22. Harkening back to the first “Art In The Sky” Festival, started by Roger DeMuth back in 1995, the Art Park will be filled with color, movement, and sound. Food and craft vendors will add to the festive “air,” and our exciting schedule of events, which promises kids kite making, face painting, kite candy drops, demonstrations, ground displays, and lots of fun for the whole family! Check out our pictures below from our Earth Day Fun Fly!

Kites were available on sight to create, decorate, and send into the sky & Amanda Klimeck volunteered to paint faces! :)
