The Lamp Pole Project

The new sculpture is called The Third Iteration. This will be All Creations third design and installation using sixty decommissioned parking lot lamp poles composed of 20 independent tripods, each displaying a vibrant 15-foot tall flag. It spans over 500 feet in a curvaceous and expanding formation that graces the main entrance of the Art Park and creates a myriad of visual effects when passing through. They have created a sensational work of art, which provokes a sense of awe and inspiration for those that experience it.
I first met Matt & Bland when they were visiting the Art Park back in November of 2007 and they mentioned they were seeking a space to exhibit this ongoing project. There was a connection between all of us, we all attended Alfred University; I graduated in 2002 and they did in 2007. I loved their artwork and that they used recycled materials to create such impacting sculptures. The layout of their work is so precise and takes alot of planning and engineering to make it structurally sound. I had wanted to create a memorial dedicated to my father who passed away in 2001. Their art reminded me of the work my father did at Niagara Mohawk, he started out as a lineman and eventually he was an electrical planner. He worked there for 28 years and also started his own business called New Line Concepts. He was an artist, great at drawing, building and math. Their sculpture reflected alot of what he did in his lifetime. I feel if he was still here today he would really dig what they are doing, maybe give a stab at it himself.
